Frugal Friday~

Hello lovelies!

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Friday!

I have a bunch of fun projects to share for this week's Frugal Round-up...

It's no secret that I love neutral palettes in decor...so of course I was drawn to this modern farmhouse master bedroom shared by Design, Dining and Diapers.  I love graphic pillows  - and of course the palette wood and deer head above the bed!

Canning Jar Speakers~

This post is sponsored by LioProducts.

I was approached by a small company a few weeks back to see if I'd be willing to review a product.  Honestly, this happens a lot.  And because I only want to share things that I find unique and that I really love, I don't do a lot of product reviews.  But this product really caught my eye.  And I was  intrigued...

What is this intriguing, unique product, you ask?

A canning jar speaker.  Say what?

That's right a speaker for your MP3 player, your iPhone, your iPod...pretty much anything with an earphone jack that you carry your tunes on.  And it's CA-UTE, my friends!  And get this...they call is a JAM JAR.  That's a catchy name...am I right? :-)

I love these bright, fun colors...but I'm a gray-lovin' girl.  So I asked if they could make me one in gray...and they did!

What Does Home Mean to You Revisited~

On Saturday, my friend and I went to see the moving Heaven is For Real. A lovely story.  Very thought provoking.

Whenever I watch a movie...about anything...I have a tendency to pay a lot of attention to the houses.  I simply can't help it.  So as each scene played out, I found myself studying the rooms in the house.  From the outside, the house was pretty amazing.  A large white clapboard beauty with a wrap-around porch in the middle of sweeping green fields somewhere in Nebraska.  From the inside, it was actually rather unremarkable.  There was no intentional decoration that I could see.  The furniture was mismatched and random, the cabinetry was out of date.  And yet, it was inviting.

I started to think about that.  And interestingly, it was one of my main takeaways from the movie. (Not to diminish the plot line at all - which was quite remarkable.)  Spending my days as I do, focused on making houses beautiful, I can't help but think about the fixtures, finishes and furniture that all come together to create aesthetic beauty.  And I admit that I love a beautiful home.

But there's so much more to making a home beautiful than the things that we fill it with.

Several weeks ago, I wrote a post about this very topic.  What does home mean to you?   And it's something I've been thinking about consistently ever since then.  Especially as I work toward creating a new normal for my little people.  I want them to feel love, peace and contentment when they come through the doors of our home.

So glad you all can join me...

This week's Frugal Round-up features a couple of great projects!

The first is a home office reveal done for the One Room Challenge by Burlap and Lace.  I could get a lot of work done in this inspiring space...or I could simply sit there and get nothing accomplished because I was too busy soaking in the design goodness. :-)

The Nesting Place and A Giveaway~

My friend, The Nester, wrote a book.  Honestly, this is awesome news...and I am sooo excited to share it with you today!

If you have been around the blogging world for any length of time, I'm sure you've heard of The Nester.  Her blog, The Nesting Place, was one of the first blogs I ever stumbled across.  And I was hooked from day one.  She has a wonderful way with words...she's incredibly funny and her decorating philosophy is really more of a life philosophy.  And it is so freeing.  "It Doesn't Have to be Perfect to be Beautiful".

As I was writing my previous post, knowing that I was going to be sharing Nester's book today, I was thinking how those words applied to my own life.  My life certainly isn't perfect by anyone's standards.  But amid the chaos and heart-ache, my life is beautiful.  So beautiful.

The One Where I Get Personal~

Helping others create beautiful homes is my passion.  I feel that the homes we live in can greatly influence our lives.  They can give us a sense of security, they can bring us joy.  But that's not what I want to talk about today.

It's not often that I share things about my personal life here on the blog.  But today I have a few things that I want to talk about...mostly because I'm hoping that by sharing, I might be able to help someone else out there that's going through something similar.  After all, if I can't use a platform like this to help others, what good is it, really?

This last year has been incredibly challenging for me and for my family.  A lot of people have asked why John has been absent from the blog lately...and from my Instagram feed...etc.  I've always tried to avoid the question.  But I guess it's time to answer it.  The truth is, we are now divorced.  The divorce was actually just recently finalized.   And because I respect his privacy, and the privacy of my children,  I won't share any of the details.  Suffice it to say that there have been challenges for several  years,  and - although it may sound strange - divorce really was the best option for our family.
