The Reveal: Architectural Interest in My Living Room with Square Wainscot~

I'm so excited to share my newest crush with you today:  my living room wall.  I have been in love with square wainscot for several years, but because I have been renting for the past few years, I haven't been able to add any to my house...until now.

Last June, when I was just in the process of looking for a new house, I wrote about how I was  daydreaming of adding square wainscot somewhere in my abode.  And when I purchased Hydeaway Cottage, I knew exactly which wall I wanted to dress up.

Loving My Neighborhood~

Today I'm guest posting over at the Ivory Homes blog...

I'm sharing some of the reasons why I really love my new neighborhood and why I feel like living in Hydeaway Cottage is like living in a storybook.  If you'd like to find out how I feel about my cute-little-storybook-neighborhood, you can check out the post here.

I am an employee of Ivory Homes and was compensated for the post.  The opinions expressed about my neighborhood are 100% authentic and mine.  I love my neighborhood!

Tween Girl's Colorful Bedroom Plans~

I'm starting to put together ideas for the kids' bedrooms and the first on the list is my daughter's room. Children's rooms are my absolute favorite to design...and as my daughter is getting closer to her teenage years, I want to design a room for her that reflects her current tastes, but that can easily be adapted to her interests as she grows.

This has to be one of my all-time favorite kids' rooms that I've designed.  The mix of color, whimsy and sophistication is so appealing!  I want to create a similar feeling in the new bedroom.

The items pictured below are some that we have already gathered for the space, and they create a strong foundation upon which we can build the remainder of the room.

Her current favorite colors are aqua and mint, so we're using those colors as a jumping off point while also incorporating colors such as navy and raspberry to ground the room.  The furniture is going to be primarily white so that any change of favorite colors will be easily incorporated.

My Word of The Year Lights Up Our Family Room (Literally)~

A couple of months ago, I was asked my good friend Tauni to participate in the One Word Challenge on her SNAP Creativity blog.  I have been choosing a word of the year for the past few years, and I was excited to be able to participate in her series and to share my word of the year there.

In case you missed it, my word for 2015 is

You can read why I chose the word "Dream" here.

As a gift for participating in the challenge, I received my word spelled out in some adorable Marquee Love letters designed by Heidi Swap for American Crafts.  And I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.

I've had the idea of using marquee letters in our basement family room in mind ever since we moved into Hydeaway Cottage, and having them spell out my word of the year was even better.  They are going to be the foundation of what I eventually plan to be a gallery wall, but for now they look adorable all by themselves.
